Overview Edit

Giant Trevally, commonly known as GT's are robust, fast swimming fishes which belong to the 23 species of Trevally along the East Coast of Australia.

Growing to more than 90kg and 1.7m long, they are the largest species of the Carangidae family.

The Australian range of Giant Trevally extends from Central NSW right around Northern Australia and possibly South to Perth/Bunbury. Juvenile Giant Trevally inhabit estuaries and as they grow larger, they migrate out to coastal areas, the largest specimens are found near offshore reefs, bomboras and channel drop-offs.
